A REMINDER from the Club President, Tim Rose I am pleased and honoured to announce to all of you that Her Honour Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant-Governor of PEI, has graciously granted to the Haviland Club, Vice-Regal Patronage. It is a single honour for us as members and recognizes the social role of the Haviland Club in our community.

Headlines/Reminders/Upcoming Events ❖ If any members have an event or idea that they would like to see happening at the Club please feel free to bring it forward and let’s try and make it happen. Remember this is your Club and the more we all get involved to plan an event, or volunteer at an event, the better our Club will be. Let’s work together to make this the best season yet.

❖ As you know we are trying to gather some much-needed equipment and tools for the kitchen. An open letter was sent out last week to all members with a wish list of items, this list is also posted on the bulletin board in the Tap Room at the Club. Please see Marie H. if you have something you would like to donate for the kitchen. Thank You all.

❖ Our Halloween Party is fast approaching– we would love to see everyone come out and enjoy a fun filled evening packed with many surprises. Our member Susan Stanger is working very hard to ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy at the party, from Barber Shop Quartet, Tarot Card Reading, Ghost Story Telling, Dancing,
Food, Interactive Music and Games. Please spread the word. Tickets available in tap room. The Club is what we make it – so please come out and support these events, and as mentioned if you want to volunteer at any event, we appreciate your time.

There is also a fundraising campaign for new facilities. The goal is to raise $2.9 million; and so far, about $1.6 million has been raised. Nicole and Jennifer made an interesting presentation, then lots of questions. Nobody left until 11:30 or so. ❖

On November 23, the PEI Writers’ Guild will host a screenwriting workshop, the first of a new “Crossing Over” series the Guild is hosting this year. Entitled “Screenwriting 101,” the workshop will be facilitated by Louise Lalonde of Louise Lalonde Productions, a Prince Edward Island media company.

“The idea for a Crossing Over series came from the desire to explore genre transition,” explains PEI Writers’ Guild president Mo Duffy Cobb. “Over the next few months, the Guild will host workshops in screenwriting, playwriting, and songwriting—exploring the techniques of writing in each genre.”

Duffy Cobb said the workshops will appeal to those who wish to break into a particular genre, but who may not be familiar with genre-specific writing conventions.
