Thursday Coffee and Conversation—With Carolyn Drake, The Guardian Night Editor (Public)

Friday Social This Week—Bar Opens at 4, Draws at 6 PM

Thanks, Marie:  Thank you, Marie for last Friday’s fabulous Chicken Etouffe!

Thanks Also:  To host Gary, presenters Tom, Bruce Laurent and Rick, and to organizer Mark, for the sold out and very successful Irish Whiskey Tasting Saturday evening!

Friday Night Live is done for now, Congratulations Laurie and Mike: Congratulations to Mike and Laurie for three great, sold out shows.

Membership Update:  Welcome to all the new members and applicants who have are  joining the Haviland Club. The Club now has 164 members!

Library Update:  Painting took more time than anticipated due to many unforeseen problems with the walls. Thank you to Patricia Craig for being on top of all those issues as painter no1, and for doing the thorough, careful job our beautiful house deserves. Given the age of the walls we can no longer put nails or screws into them. A new approach is being actively investigated now. Please note that the Library portion of the room will re-open by 10 April when the paint is well dried off and not sticky wet. The House Committee thanks everyone for their patience.
Books are coming in and thank you again to all who donate. All the books are in an Electronic Catalogue, if you wish to have a copy via your personal email, Laurent can sent it to you. We will continue to add to the E-Catalogue in this manner. This will give us a professional library look.

As always, if school’s are closed so is Coffee and Conversation—but from what we here it’s supposed to be plus 7, so no worries?

Friday is the Ides of March–and we all know what happened on 15 March 44 BC, some 2063 years ago at the Theatre of Pompey in Rome. In celebration, Marie will serve Poulet Etouffé—a New Orleans Classic, chicken “smothered” in flavourful tomato sauce served over rice—and Bloody Ceasars will be the drink of the day. Laurent, who proposed the idea of the drink, tells us the Bloody Caesar is Canada’s Official Cocktail, invented in 1962 (Hey, what about Moose Milk?) Feel free to show up in a toga, but no daggers, please.

ALSO, please remember to let the Club know by Thursday noon if you plan to come so there’s enough for all.
